Step 1a. Bore stock 226 out to 244 sized pistons. (Same idea as 140 to 162 conversion)
Step 1b. Find F244 or F245 block in salvage yard and install F226 accesories. F245 had larger bearing journals with the same bore and stroke, if memory serves.
Step 2. Install 44 carburetor. More air flow, easily tuned, better mixer.
Step 3. Clean up stock manifold, blend and port match for better flow. And Block off the factory heat passage in the manifold. You don"t need it. The cold manifold off some industrail continentals would work also.
Step 4. Shave the haed and get the compression up tp 8.5-1 or better
Step 5. Adjust governor and throttle linkages to get the max rpm that your local club will allow. I have seen these motors run in excess of 3000 RPM with good durability. Thank god for a relatively short stroke.

All these modifications are fairly easy to do and will go along way towards making a stronger tractor...

Hmmmmm... A junior....

Well now that depends. What motor is in your tractor. Juniors came with 124ci, 140ci, or 162ci 4 cylinder Continentals. a 124 or 140 can be turned into a 162 by boring and installing 162 pistons. A 162 or 163 motor could be found out of a forklift or Clark truck. On a 162 i would not run a 44 carb. maybe more like a 33 carb. Marvel Schebler jetted better for the smaller motor. If you already have a 1 inch throttle bore carb on the tractor keep it on there. Some came with 7/8th's throttles.

HOWEVER...

When all these modifications are done you will still only have the same motor some guys are pulling in 81, 20, or 22 chassis; In a much heavier tractor... 2500# for a stripped 22, 3500#for a very stripped 101Jr...

Somehow I'm not suprised that you're "just wondering".
