Model: MF-65

Two queations

a) Books calls for a 195-506M1 oil seal. MF dealer gave me a 1-077-452M1. The old one is a metal housing with a felt dust seal and rubber oil seal. The new one is just a rubber housing and oil seal. Is this correct?

b) which way does it go into the seal retainer? Open end forward or open end aft? The manuals just say perss it in with the felt seal aft... and this new one does not have a felt seal.

Thanks
Jeff

A good way of checking numbers is use vapormatic.com, enter the manufacturers part no, click on the Vap item and click cross references, here you will see that the old part was superceded by the new one.

Always fit oil seals with the "hollow" side towards the oil it is sealing in. The oil, especially if under pressure, causes the seal to tighten onto it"s shaft giving a better seal.
