I have found a 165 serial# 9A I90632 that has only 2600 hrs and is in great shape. It was used mainly to pull a hay rake.It has new back rubber on it.I was told it was a 1974 model. The owner is wanting $7000 for it.....FIRM.I was wondering if it is worth it.It has the 4 cyl perkins as well.

Im writing from Finland, so I cant say what a MF 165 should be worth in dollars, but if you like to have the most reliable tractor ever made, the MF 165 is probably it. You need to invent good excuses in order to get rid of it.

I paid 5000 for mine in excellent cond. with new rubber and paint. If it had a loader it would be worth the 7K.

Unless it's in "cherry" shape, I think $7K is on the steep side! I just saw a MF255 (newer unit) for $4100. (I must of fell out of bed that day and bumped my head, cause I'm still sick I didn't buy it!) And another unit was a MF175 with loader for $5500. So in reference to these and a few others, my opinion of $7K is too much...maybe $3500-4000? (Have to see it?)

In general...

It's a great tractor. Works hard, starts
easy, sips fuel. Perhaps the best tractor
ever made in its size class...

If it's in as good shape as it appears to
be, it's worth it. It will last you
another 30 years or so.

Take it for a test drive and make sure the
multipower, brakes, etc all are skookum.
