I have just bought about 25 acres and will need a tractor soon. Since this is my first tractor, I could use some help. Mostly I'll be mowing, grading driveway, hauling wood, etc etc. Several people have suggested I look at masseys but I don't know much about which models to look at. A friend has a 135 gas which he likes a lot and that seems like a good place to start. Any ideas about other models to look at would be very helpful. I'd like a 3 point and good live hydraulics but other features can vary.
Thanks in advance!

Lots of models to look at/for.

Fergusons:
TE-20, TO-20, TO-30, TO-35 run in the $1500 to $3500 price range. The -20's do not have live hydrolics.

MF-50, -35 and -65 Bigger tractors with live Hydrolics and can have a two stage cluch/power steering. in the $2500-$5000 range

MF135, -150 and -165 basicly the same as the non -100 series not sure of the added bells and whistles. In the $2500 to $6000 range

I have a TE-20 and a MF65 and Love them Both. Both will do the jobs you describe. The MF-65 is about twich as powerful as the -20 though.

Also look at Big Dean's web pages he has tips to look at for good tractor. (see page 1)

Jeff,
thanks for the reply. I've already looked at Big Dean's pages and they are very helpful. I'm afraid to say I still don't know what the difference is between models though. So far, I haven't found a beginner's history of Massey production but I'll keep looking.
