I have a MH model 44, I am trying to determine the year and actual model type it is. Serial number is on right side of tractor if you are sitting on it. A stamped plate is rivited to the tractor frame it reads 44GIRF 55928. Any help is grateful.

Ref. 54 gas row crop. Thanks for the info. Is 44GIRF 55928 the whole serial number? I can figure what the 44 is. What is the GIRF? And what is the 55928? Also what do you think the value of it is? It has good tin work, runs good, rubber is so so. I was told by a guy that I didn't know what I have and to research it good before I decide to sell it

The break down on your serial number is as follows.44 is the model;G is for gasoline;1 is for regular altitude;R is for row-crop;F is for foot-clutch;55928 is the number of the tractor and also tells what year it is.It is a 1954.
