Use engine cleaner to degrease, water rinse, then brake cleaner to dry. After the pump is very clean and dry, use a dry paper towel, and start the tractor, see if the leak is coming from around the throttle shaft or shut off shaft. If it is, there are 2 very small o-rings on each shaft that have dried out and cause them to look. They are replaceable, I did my CAV pump on my MF690. The 4 new orings plus gasket cost about $5 at MF dealer. BUT: extreme care must be used when removing the cover and replacing it. There is a spring which connects the base to the cover. The spring is connected to a "tombstone" looking affair at one end. You MUST see which hole it is in and write it down BEFORE removing the spring. Also the other end of the spring is connect to one of the holes in a small flattened shaft, again you MUST see which hole it is in BEFORE you disconnect the spring and write it down. If you do not get the spring in the exact hole on both ends, the pump will not operate properly. It is not complicated when you see under the cover. Just lift a little and look and write before taking the spring off. Mine was steady dripping and now is so dry it hardly collects dust. This will only apply if you have the CAV pump.

Yep, same thing happened to us with a diesel Landrover. We took it to a guy 'who knows' who replaced the gasket for us.Problem solved. The thing is with injector pumps is they are not to be tinkered with if you have never had any experience with them.
