Front tires on a 65 w/loader?

The front tires on my 65 are extremely weather cracked and yesterday I noticed the tube trying to come through the right one. I was wondering if six lug wheels of off a Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 would work on it? My only reason for putting these wheels on it is because of the front end loader. I would like to put wider front tires on it to compensate for the 6'bucket. I was thinking of a 8" wide wheel for the front. The drawback that I have (if the Chevy wheel works) is that it would probably make my tractor look ugly.

Any suggestions guys? Thanks, RedDog

On a MF65 there just isn't room for a wider tire to clear the spindle. If you put different rims on it that will change the camber caster and make it harder to steer. Using tires with more plys will help.... Truck tires are just not the answer....

There definately is an aesthetic side to this, the tractor would look pretty awkward. I think the biggest problem is light truck tires aren't designed for that kind of weight and pressure, they would likely give you trouble. The other thing is the rib of a tractor tire is designed to catch on or in the ground to aid in steering, where as a truck tire will just slide, especially if you have weight on the back, plowing, disking, etc, you won't be able to steer at all. I think you are better to stick with a tractor tire.

Thanks for the reply. I want a wider tire for better floatation when I have the bucket full.

I may have to check with my dealer about wider wheels for it, although I hate to think about the price of them.

Thanks again, RedDog
