Can anyone tell me what the letters in the serial number for MH 50 stand for? Can I assume the G =gas and the S=Standard? I have three and they have SGM, PSGM, and CEM respectively. I don't have a clue as to what the P is unless it is Power Steering, but the M and the C and the E do not compute. The CEM is on a 1957 50 with 38" wheels.

Thanks

Massey

The serial letters for MH tractors are slightly different from MF tractors, I dont have the MH letters to hand just now.

Letter code in front of the number for MF prefixes used during that era:

S Standard- low clearance C High Clearance/Hi-arch R Row-crop two wheel
T Row-crop single wheel
U Utility
J Industrial/multi-purpose
V Vineyard

G Gasoline
H High altitude gasoline
B L. P. G.
D Diesel
N Diesel direct injection
K Vaporizing Oil (TVO)
L Lamp oil

F Single-stage clutch
M Dual-stage clutch
Y Differential lock
W Multi-power.

The P could be power steering, particulary if that was an option on the model you have. The E would probally be a fuel type code, what do thoes tractors run on?

Jeff-oh, What do you make of this serial on a utility 35? UGM 655001223. It doesn"t match the numbers given on this site"s serial # pages. Did the UGM"s have a separate block of #"s. Thanks. Jim
