Have a terrible screeching noise that is definitely coming from the pivot pin. The pin is not turning as it is held in place by a keeper, neither is either of the bushings. Have only a 100-150 hours on a new pin and bushings and wondering why not lube the pin with some oil. The only reason why I can think not is that a lot of air passes in that area and would tend to attract lots of grit. I think I read on this forum that oiling the pin is a "no-no". Have any of you all had a similar experience?

Check for a grease nipple if your tractor has the straight axle
but dont oil or grease the pivot on the early type swept back axle

May i ask, you call it a "swept back front axle," on my 135 it appears to sweep forwards?

Mine is a UK model

have i got a different axle?

Thanks for any replies

I am looking at a parts book that was published by MF in Aug of 73. Looks like there are two types of front axles: the "Vineyard-Swept Back Axle" and the one for the Deluxe and Special that looks identical to each other, but have two different part numbers. The latter is not called "Swept Back" , but has the same angles. The other style is for the Vinyard and is called "Straight Axle" and the fourth different part number is for the Orchard and is straight also. None of the four has any angle towart the rear of the tractor.

Yes, indeed I do have the swept back axle and there is no grease fitting that I can find nor is there one deplicted in the exploded parts drawing. I guess I can and will live with the noise. Thank you very much.

My MF 690 has a grease fitting for the pin. It is hard to locate. Look at your Operator Manual for pictures. Maybe you have a grease fitting??
