Hi all this engine is in a MF 203 industrial 1961 year when it is cold you have good oil pressure and runs pretty good but after it warms up it starts to rattle and oil pressure drops to near nothing any suggestions on where to start with a minor or major overhaul. I was thinking of dropping the oil pan and having a look at bottom end to see what is going on.

My oil pan (MF 35) is the front support member for the tractor (frame); not the engine block like a lot of non-framed tractors. Dropping the pan would be a real chore.

My gauge has red, amber, and green areas. Green is 30 psig up. Have found that TSC HD 40W will keep pressure where I want it. Perkings looks like it would be parts hungry in an overhaul so I'm putting it off for as long as I can.

You better be ready for a complete overhaul. That is what you will get from using that junk in your tractor. Get you some real diesel oil: Mobil Delvac 1300 15W40, Shell Rotella T 14W40, etc. If you have low pressure with one of these good oils, then you have some problems to investigate.

Delvac is what I put in it when I bought it. Here we go again: religion, politics, oil..... .....

used to be the oil gauge would read half way not even running then go to high when using the machine then after it warms up it goes back to middle and engine would rattle pretty badly now it is not moving from the half way mark I guess I have no choice but to have a look. I got a real good CD from Big Dean it tells lots of great info on fixing the industrial line.
