Hi all,

I was looking at what I think is a 1964 MF65. The ser# on right side of tractor by voltage regulator is CNDW708704. The tractor is a 4cyl diesel Hi-Arch ajustable front end. The serial #'s I have researched don't agree with what I was told, nor with each other for that matter.
Does CNDW stand for Canadian model with wide front? Just straight 8spd (4*[hi/low])gears (no multipower)and locking rear end.
What engine should this be the A4-192 or the AD4-203 or maybe somthing else?
Should there be a single glow plug in the intake like the the one on the FE35? There appears to be remnants.

According to the serial nunber listing on this site, the tractor is a 1964. It should have the AD4-203 direct injection engine (injectors at 45 degree angle). When you say 8 speed transmission, are you including reverse?

The number you give looks to be a SN, but the location is not normal, normally is is as bob said, on the dash. However, the letters would suggest,
C= hi-arch - checks out with your description
N- Deisel - checks
D- Direct injection - would be a AD4-203 engine
W- Multi power. - does not check.

The number was on a plate on the right side of the tractor in front of the steering and above the brake pedals.

Multipower: never actually seen one. This tractor seemed to shift normally through the 8 gears and I did not notice any extra shift lever.
What exactly should be looked for? How to be shure Multipower is working properly?

AD4.203: Should be around 46-48 hp? So the injectors should be verical from the top? How about the pre-cumbustion heater (glow plug) in the intake.

Well, duhhhhh. I was just re-reading page one of the manual and it says... The "serial number" is stamped on a plate located on the right side of the tractor in front of the steering gear housing and just above the voltage regulator." Right where you said you found it.

I have a '58 gas MF65 and my SN is on a plate on the left hand side of the dash. I do not have all the fancy fuel gauges, dash lights etc. and there is still room on the dash.

The AD4-203 should be in the low 50's HP range. Do a web search on Nebraska tractor tests and search the 1960-1969 test range to find what they rated the tractor at. The MF rated the engine at 55 gross BHP (brake horse power)

multi power is a "switch" lever (Big Light switch) on the lower dash, right side, just below the Water temp guage. Multi power will give you a speed boost in a given gear. If in 1st gear low range at 1500 rpm and low MP the tractor speed is rated at .93 MPH. Shifting into High MP the speed increases to 1.2 MPH. This is a shif on the fly ... no clutching is needed.

The injector nozzles come down from the top. The fuel line from the injuction pump comes in to the rear of the nozzle.

There is one glow plug, it is located just aft of the air intake line on the intake manifold.

Hope this helps
Jeff

Hi Rick -

The W in the serial number may be locking differential. Pedal in front of the right rear axle, operated by your right heel.

And if you have vertical injectors, you may have the A4 regular injection engine. Most likely 203 - I haven't seen the 192 here, but there could be some!

The thermostart or intake manifold heater is a single plug a bit like a metal spark plug in the intake, with a single wire and a steel fuel line connected.

The W is Multi-power, The ND on second thought may be a 4A-203 engine and D- Differential lock.

The 4A-203 engine has verticle injectors with the fuel lines coming in from the side. (the AD4-203 has fuel lines comming in from the rear in-line with the tractor axis.

4A-203 leak off lins is mid-way on the injector assembly while the AD4-203's leak off line is on the top of the assembly.

Hope that helps.

I dont think thats the serial number. Should be a plate on dash with the number or under the brake pedals on trans. side if foreign made.
