Thanks for the replies all. God works in mysterious ways... After posting my question I overheard a couple of guys talking about their tractors over by the copy machines here at work. Turns out, one of them owns a 1964 gas MF-65, also. I talk to him and he brought in his oil dipstick today. Never knew he had a tractor before, let alone the one I was interested in. I did a side-by-side comparison and, as suspected, my dipstick is too long. The score marks on it lined up with the full mark and the top of the blade portion. The dipstick he brought in has the following: ID number: G1761-3020 or G176I-3020 not sure if it's an I or a 1. Lengths from bottom of bell housing.... To... top of blade- 4 7/16 full line- 5 5/16 bottom of safe zone-Danger line- 6 3/4 Overall - 8 inches Interestingly enough the Full line on my "faulty" dipstick lined up with the Danger Low oil line. Good thing I had a manual and knew how much oil to put in it.... Although it still bothers me a little that I put in 6 quarts and it reads right at full when I should have put in 7 1/2 per Deans post. Can anyone compare their Gas MF65 C.G176 dipstick with the above measurements or ID number?... It is always possible his was a replacement too.
