My 285 needs to be resleeved and my IT repair manual says I need Sleeve puller plate MFN326 to remove them. Can any one tell me what it looks like? Can not seem to find one in my area.

Thanks Paul

Paul,

Although the sleeve puller is probably the ideal way to go, I removed most Perkins sleeves by using an old screwdriver blade that is rounded on one side and driven down in between the sleeve and block to split it. Rounding the blade keeps it from scarring the block as you split the sleeve. After removal, flex hone the sleeve bore LIGHTLY, clean it good with some soap and water. Put the new sleeves in the freezer overnight to shrink them and when you get ready to install them, take them out one at a time. They usually will slide in by hand if you get them in quickly.
Hope this helps!

Tommy

Would be wise to purchase real MF manuals before you tackle rebuild. Get Repair Manual and Parts Manual. Much better than IT kind.
