I am missing the hydraulic cylinder for the bucket on a MF 185 backhoe. I called the local dealer and he cannot find any information in his books on the backhoe or actually any other model backhoe. If I had the old cylinder I could probably find a replacement, but I don't. Any suggustions?

I actually have the Shop manual for the 185 backhoe. It gives very detailed explainations on how to rebulid all the hydraulic components of that hoe. But, it doesn't list a single part number or specification list for any of them.

I'd try measuring the travel between the mounting point on the dipper stick and the attachment point on the bucket. Then find a hydraulic cylinder that will fit. Make sure you get one that has the same bore diameter as the other two.

Of course the other option is to call another MF dealer...maybe they can find the information you need.
