Anyone recover steering wheels just like the original Sheller wheel on Masssey Harris tractors?Found 3 people in "Farm Show" that do it or at least did it at one time.Darrel Cranfield,Hillsboro,Il;Tom Lein,Rosemont,Mn; Minn-Kota,Millbank,SD.Know anything about any of them? Can they recover a Sheller?Have an extra wheel that I would like to get recovered for the next project.A 50 model 44-4cyl. Don't care for the knock off replacements.

I sent a steering wheel off to Minn-Kota and was 100% satisfied with the results. A lot of places just inject plastic (like the repro jobs) and it just looks cheap and feels cheap. Minn-Kota uses real molded rubber and you can even smell it! Cost is about $70 + shipping for a 17" wheel but it was worth it to be able to use an original and have it perform and fit like the original.

Several people outline "Do-It-Yourself" proceedures for filling in cracks and such, but you still have the same, old, brittle coatin that is just as likely to chip and crack and peel off elsewhere and it'll still leave your hands black unless you paint it. I don't think i'd like the feel of a spray painted steering wheel...

Try the MH archives, a couple of these people get
praise for their work. However, labor cost money,
as you know. The procedure has been mapped out several times, if you are confident in your skills. Good luck.
