Which tractor do I have?

I recently bought a ferguson from an 83 yr old man who said his dad had a new engine (TO30)put into this TO20 tractor. The serial # is TO-95814 which would seem to suggest that this is a TO30 tractor. Is there some way I can tell besides looking at the engine. It has the oil filter on the right so I'm sure it is a 30 engine. Thanks for any help at all. Also, my implements drop in about 30 seconds after shut off, what do I need to do to fix that?

Hi Larry, Look up your serial number on the left of this page under research and info.
As for the implement drop it is somewhat normal once engine is shut to drop it also drops some with engine running. Do a search on this site under articles and you will see the normal descent rate.

good Luck

Good advice, I did look the numbers up but the serial # only shows up under the TO30 year 1952. It makes me wonder if the serial # plate has been replaced or if the old fellow didn't remember correcly, that is why I thought maybe there was a difference in the tractor body itself that I could make some sort of distinction between a 20 and a 30. Someone painted it blue and pin striped it. Comments range widely as to how to deal with the drop. Just wondered if there was some sort of simple fix. It just drops too fast to suit me. Thanks Norm.
