I read the posts about putting a 382 in a 44, could you put on a shorter valve cover, or do anything else to the 382 motor to fit it under the 44 sheetmetal? Also, I would like to put a 427 flathead Continental in a 55. Any ideas on how hard this would be? Thanks

Nothing like the original stuff I'd say whether it be a MH 44 or a 55 Chevy pickup. I think the specs that Harris Guy has given you would have scared you out of your dream swap but I guess if you insist then go for it. Hope it doesn't turn out to be a tough lesson though.

The radiator dictates a major conflict, the 55
has an 8 rib grill, the 44's had seven. Even to
change radiators, would flex hose connect? I had
a late series 44 Special,direct drive,considered the 277 tired, either O-H, or swap engines. 55's
are usually bare bones,short money.Special frame is 3/8" thicker than 44. Cooling system 55:7 gallons;44 Special:5 1/2 gallons.That big rad &
bell housing reduce one's interest. Some puller has no doubt gotten a 427 into a Massey-Harris,
no matter what. Imagine the cross support.
