I know this is a very stupid ?, but i have never messed with a canister oil filter before... had to split my MF35 w/perkins 3-152 diesel to replace the tranny input shaft seals and decided to change the engine oil while i was at it... had a friend helping take stuff apart and he took the old filter out... but didnt note how it went together

So, now i have a new cartridge, a new big o-ring that came with it... and a pile of stuff that i'm unsure about the assembly of (esp. the location of the small (about 1/2") o-ring?

also- how do ya get the canister to seal to the mount? the large o-ring matches the canister size, but it's very loose in the grove in the filter mount

and also, though the tranny and rear-end have 2 drain plugs, do they fill from the same place and share the dipstick?

Never mind the oil filter problems- searched the archives and found this wonderful picture

and it seems that the o-ring that came with my filter is not the correct one for this engine

Tranny-hydraulics share same oil, fill by undoing plug L.H. side of gearstick and check dipstick on R,H. sideplate, give oil a little time to run through from rear of trans to back end and recheck level. Good Luck.

Hi,

you could do yourself a big favour and order a spin on conversion head for it, s you can put spin on oil filters on it instead!!

See you

Will
