I found a 44 with no engine. Sheetmetal is all there. Straight but slightly rusty. Not really interested in restoring the thing. What would be the best motor to stick in it for a repower. Small block chevy looks like it would be easy. Does anyone have other ideas on what would make an easy or interesting swap? How big a project is this?

A chevy V-8 is a fairly easy swap. I have a 444 with one in it that we will pull in the Central Ohio Tractor Pullers Hot rod class. Should be finished in two weeks. The Toughest thing is to find an input shaft long enough to use because the V-8 has to sit a little foward of where the old engine did.

You always reach a point of compromise, something
is awry. If outlay was minimal, better to invest
in a H260, work on that. A decent running 44 has value, a tinkermobile is a dead horse for sale.
