The tag screwed to the dash of my tractor says "TO 35" SG FI 79637. The last patent date is Nov, 29, 1955. The tag also says "Massey-Harris-Ferguson". Can someone please tell me extactly what I have? I was told by the previous owner it is a "ferguson 35". I have been told by others it is a "Massey Ferguson". It has(repo`s I`m sure) Massey Ferguson decals on the hood. It has the 3spd trans with Hi and Lo range and the continental gas engine. Thanks!

I think for a start you need a short history lesson so pay a visit to this site>Link
this>Link will answer some of your questions.

As to the serial number I think the plate should read SGF 179637 and this would make it a 1958 Ferguson TO 35. The following are the meaning of the letters
S = Standard Chassis
G = Petrol engine F = Single clutch (not a two stage/dual clutch)

Hope this helps and you enjoy your tractor,

Bob, Thanks for the info. Yes I do need a history lesson. I am very confident the tag reads SGF""I"" rather than SGF"1". That is one of the main reasons I`m so confused. Thanks again.
