What sort of wrench do folks use to adjust the spinout lugs on a Massey 65? I've been using a 1/2" square drive socket extension, with the female end over the square lug and a big adjustable wrench on the other end, but there must be a better way. Thanks....

As someone already said, MF made a special wrench for this purpose.

I was lucky that someone bought one at an auction for me. You might have some success at farm auctions, ebay, flea markets, or maybe a collector.

Why do you adjust the spinout and what exactly is it?

Spinout is the name given to the mechanism for adjusting wheel spacing for the rear wheels. The rims have a spiral steel rail. You loosen the spinout lugs, put the tractor in gear and slowly let out the clutch. The hub spins in relation to the tire rim, causing the wheel to move in or out. The lugs on a Massey 65 are about 1/2" square.

We have a wrench from MF many years ago that fits it. Kind of like an tire wrench with a moveable extension handle. A 1/2 inch drive socket made for square head bolts will work, sold by the big names.
