My 245 is (I believe) a 1979 model. It has the "clamshell" fenders. I've seen or read somewhere that some 245s had flat-top fenders. Was this an option and if so what are the advantages/disadvantages?

I think they came thru with both? I have the square one's and can't find any replacements. If you find them please let me know where as mine are damaged. If you need new rounded ones try ebay as I found those on there for $77 each.

Chief,

The 245 came standard with the "clamshell" fenders but could be equipped with the flat fenders if the tractor was bought with what I used to call the "heavy" rear axle setup that used wet brakes. It was basically an orchard model tractor. There were also extra lights installed in the front of the flat fender. For general purpose work though, I prefer the rounded fenders because of visibility and access on/off. I think they will probably interchange though using the correct mount.
