I have a 178 steering issue. the selector valve on the front of the tractor can be adjusted so that it will turn well either right/left but not both. The pins big dean mention do not have much play but the main knuckle does. What do you guys think I need to start replacing or adjusting.
thanks in advance

Sean, What do you call the big knuckle.? You will have excess wear and play in steering in your relay assembly, E.G. where your steering arm is connected in front of tractor behind the grille. If you have wear in the vertical shaft and or the bushes it will have the same symptoms you describe, hard one way only. Rebush and rheam and have shaft built up and machined if worn. Good Luck, sibby.

Owyargowin Sibby

Havyar sussed out BEPCO and whatda yah think about em?
Enuff ov the ozzy inglish

I have found that buying after market parts sometimes beats the cost of labour trying to rebuild the old parts, unless for instance the bushing has gone completely and the housing has been damaged

Cheers Arthur
