I've gathered up the parts I think I need to do a minor tuneup on a MF135 (AG3-152). I don't have any books or manuals and do not know the specs for setting the points. I got the spark plug number and gap settings from this site, was wondering if someone might be able to help out with the point settings. I changed the oil which was over serviced. About an inch to high on the dipstick. I have put in 6 qts and its still a little low. While I'm begging for info I might as well ask about the oil capacity also. Ha Ha.
Was able to find both inner and outer air filters at the local NAPA dealer. They do not
carry the distributor cap, it shows up as N/A under their parts book. It has a Zenith carburator installed, the NAPA man said I would have to get the number from a metal tag located on the carburator to find out what rebuild kit I would need. I can't find any tag or number. It just says "Zenith" made in USA. I'm in the process of trying to buy shop manual and service manual. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a specific after market brand of manuals that I should buy, or just have to rely on ordering them from a dealer. Thanks for your patience.

Hello. MF factory manual gives these spec for your engine.
Spark plugs: Champion N12Y or equivalent; Gap 0.025 in.
Distributor point gap: 0.021 in.
Timing at max engine speed (2250 RPM): 27 degrees BTDC
Crankcase oil capacity: 6 quarts without filter change; 6.5 quarts with filter change.
Transmission, differential, and hydraulic system (share common reservoir): 8 gallons
Power steering resetvoir: 1 quart
For carburetor kit, contact one of the parts suppliers on this site. You can buy kit for complete rebuild with instructions. I hope this helps. John

Thanks John Your info was exactly what I was looking for.
In regards to the carb., I looked at it again yesterday and could find no outward identification except "Zenith" Made in USA. It appears to be the original OEM equipment, I suppose a MF dealer should be able to find the correct rebuild kit. The NAPA dealer gave me a different plug than what you mentioned, there CJ8's, which were already gapped to .025. Hope I got a correct substitute for the original plug (UJ8). Thanks again for the info, its a life saver.
