Johnny, It's an advice forum, not a post for
amusement service. How serious is "just acquired"
30 year parked 44? If the post were motivated to
state he purchased with intention to plow the snow, or sickle mow his 8 acres, we may have more
than a guy with old iron, 'just a settin'. 30
years, bone dry engine: every seal is history.
Will the non-mechanic put a hundred hours of
sweat labor into this MH, and chase down the parts? These posts turn up about once a week,
scroll down. I chased down the list of O-H parts
on an H277, for a guy posting he could not find.
Upon supplying names, numbers, e mail addresses,
his response was thanks for doing all that work, but I don't want to invest the money. I was not
selling, just located the vendors who had the parts. Those Q's were covered in the Archives, if
someone wanted to utilize the depth of this site.
Slow day when one begins answering 'tell me the MH story...I don't read manuals'. Ten MH guys in
the Archives could answer the Q's, in detail, who
will turn the wrenches? The leak in the hyd.valve
is a fifteen minute repair, on depth-o-matic. It
is certainly in a shop manual.

Mr velvet ride: In response to your note concerning Vinny's inquiry to MH44, I am not a mechanic, nor do I possess the accumen in tractorology ad masseyum that you possess. Therefore I'm very new to this pursuit and intended to assist Vinny in some way to retrieve and restore this piece of agricultural history. I do believe his Questions were pertinent and to the point. I do not think that He deserved the lambasting type of response that you leveled at him in the manner that you did. Maybe someone else can read this and direct "advice" to Vinny and lead Him in the right direction. He was only seeking advice! But thank you for your response anyway...JDM

How could I level a lambasting at someone, who's
post I chose to avoid? You addressed me, by handle, as title. I did not mention the guy's name, in my reponse to your direct suggestion,
that I should rattle these keys, for his review.
My advice remains, open a manual, read archives.
You are articulate enough to dress down my gratus
advice, yet avoid involving yourself in a web
search for a Shop and Op manual for a 44. Why
take aim, by singling me out to be your pack
mule for entertainment? I admire HARRIS tractors
beyond the parade; turn the bolts, post advice.
Perhaps not the most pristine hobby, but I enjoy
it. Even your baiting me for micromanaged reply
did not succeed. Books, not more banter, Mr. M.

Touche'my freind! I admire your eloquent response. You are correct in stating this is a "forum," let's keep it this way. Yet you are wrong in stating that I was baiting you. Micromanaging is not my forte, books are my enjoyment and lifestyle. I've enjoyed this engagement and appreciate where you are coming from. Banter is for those who seek trade not necessarily advice. Regards Sir..... ..JDM
