I'm looking for a value of a straight grille and chrome for a Massey Harris 555. We are trying to establish a price for my purchase. Chrome is probably above average with some pitting and the stainless moulding is slightly bent but not damaged. sheet metal grille is straight. Any help on pricing??

I would not pay 100.00 for the chrome strip, there were being sold for around 50.00 a while back. Someone told me once that a very similiar chrome strip could be had from an old car but I can't remember which one. It doesn't seem like it would be hard to make one?

I often wonder about guys selling something then standing back for you to make an offer because they don't know what it's worth so they want the ball in your park. Their reasoning doesn't make sense to me. If you do make an offer (and he has no clue as to the value), how is he going to determine whether or not he accepts or rejects your offer. Offer him 50 bucks but before you do, tell him he has to come back with a price to you if he says no. Some guys like to run a one-buyer auction on some items that they think might be the crown jewells.

The chrome is a hard to come by piece. I offered to check the market price. We just want to be fair to each other in pricing.

Decent chrome has to be worth a hundred. The grill, being 8 rib, only used on 555/55's. You
may have to pay matching dollars for the grill.
These are not common find items. Opportunity to
purchase is somewhat limited.
