Hi,

Sibby on Tuesday I spent most of the day ripping and hoeing. The old machine has plenty of grunt and uses hardly any fuel. I'm very happy about that. However I tried putting a load on the PTO with the clutch depressed all the way. No the PTO won't disengage. I was very careful when doing this. :-) You mentioned a way of adjusting the PTO clutch. How would I do this?

Also what size spanners do these machines accept. I have done lots of work on Holden cars and Mercedes Benz cars so I have metric and Imp but neither seems to fit perfectly on this tractor. Could it be Whitworth?

Kind Regards
Michael Oakes

Michael, they are definately imperial(s.a.e.). YOU need from 5/16" to say 1 1/8" or slightly bigger to work on the whole machine. To adjust the p.t.o. clutch, first check your main clutch, press down on your clutch pedal until you feel the throw out bearing touch the clutch fingers adjusting screws(free play), you should have ~1/2" to 5/8" at end of pedal, if not loosen clamping bolt on end of clutch lever and poke a large phillips screwdriver into you throw out fork shaft and tighten clamp when you acquire the right freeplay. now on the bottom of your clutch housing in the front of your transmission is a rectangular plate held by 4x 15/16" head bolts, unless the loader frame is supported under here, remove the plate, make sure you pull out your fuel stop, get a light, chock your wheels and take tractor out of gear. You need to measure .080" with feeler gauges, you need two 1/2" open end spanners and a long screwdriver, crawl underneath, you will find there are three adjusting bolts positioned@ 120 degrees apart in the clutch assembly, turn engine with screwdriver and adjust from head of the bolt to the p.t.o. pressure plate till the .080" feeler gauge fits firmly and tighten and recheck clearance on the 3 bolts, and Bobs your uncle mate. hope this helps you ,keep us posted on your progress, regards, sibby.
