Hello, Couple of questions. Just recently got this tractor and i pulled the air filter out and it would be better off without it than with it, it is so clogged. I am amazed the tractor as been running so good. So just wondering where I can get a filter for it. Is it pretty common? Second question, how do youadjust your hitch or bush hog where it will lower to the same height each time and stay there? It is constantly digging in depending on the terrain and it is adjust it up, adjust it down and on and on. Also while I am thinking about it my oil filler plug fell out and I have no idea where it is, any idea where I might get one of those? Thanks

On my 35 when mowing, I put my draft control all the way forward (down) and set my position control with the knurled stop nut. If I am using draft control (plowing), my position lever is forward (down)and I control my plow depth with fine adjustments on the draft lever. When raising either implement to turn around I use the position lever. Confused? Just practice with it.

Virgil,

Both air filters are available from NAPA.

On your 3 pt hitch you have 2 types of control. The inner lever is the position control for implements such as bush hogs, mowers, spreaders, and such that do not engage the ground. This sets the height of the implement. The outer lever is the draft control for implements that dig in the ground such as plows, scarifiers, and such. It will control the draft or pull on the tractor to maintain optimal traction. It works off the compression of the top link spring in the lift cover. When using either, the unused lever is pulled all the way up. If by chance you are using the draft control with a bush hog, it can make it jump or hunt up and down due to pressure on/off the top link spring.

Hope this helps.

On our 165 and 285, there is a stop on the control, simply a BIG knurled nut on a bolt that slides in the track, with enough sticking out to catch the lever. On my 165 one lever can control the depth, the other just drops it all the way. the 285 is a little different, but same priciple.

I just got my MF 135 too. I got a new air filter from my Mf dealer-expensive. This was the outer element with fins. I got the inner element from NAPA. Might try them for both. They also had the oil filter. Mine is a screw on.
I think you set the inner quadrant to position control to hold the equipment in a constant position. Others who have had a 135 longer would know more.
Hope this helps.
