Fellow MF 135 owners -- A while back, I posted a question about why my 135 was pegging the oil pressure to maximum everytime I tried to start it. I don't remember if I mentioned that I had just changed the oil and filter (featuring the Perkins three cylinder gas engine's original canister with oil filter insert). For those familiar with this type of oil filter, I draw your attention to the machined steel disc that holds the bottom "o" ring and mounts between the spring and the bottom of the filter cartridge (get ready, here comes the stupid part). Don't LOSE that steel disc!!! Not only does it make re-assembly of the filter cartridge and canister somewhat of a mystery, but it appears to obstuct oil flow -- thank God for the oil by-pass! By the way, anybody out there got a spare one of those "o" ring discs that they might want to part with or now where I could find one (since my local dealer couldn't). Hoping you enjoyed my story and, maybe, learned from my mistake. I remain mechanically inept in Virginia. Dr. D

Dr D: I found the Whole canister assymbly in the barn in a box. Now you need the steel washer that goes on the bolt, that runs up thru the center of the filter right? I also have a couple of the o rings that the filter uses. I will send them all, just tell me where you want them sent too. I will keep the canister its self, as I have a MF 200 Dozer with a perkins motor and that uses the same canister. Dave. P.S. I haven't made it out to my orchard yet but will today and I will get you the part numbers for the spin on assymbly. Dave

I have a 135 with the same engine and when I bought mine the old owner had a new adapter in a box that he had just purchased for the tractor. This adapter which is avalible thru MF dealers allows the use of a spin on oil filter.I dont know how much they are but it beats the heck out of the old filter system. It took me about five min to mount it. If you are set on not using the spin on adapter I may still have my old filter system. I will check my shop if I do I will let you know and you can have the disk. Dave

Dave -- Thanks for getting back. Hope you find that old filter disc; if so, it'll put me right back in business! I'll watch this post to see if you are successful. Let me know either way. If you can't find it, I'll follow up on that spin-on filter adapter idea with my local MF dealer. Thanks again! Dr. D

Dr D. I haven't forgotten you! I have three young fellers that use my shop late at night after dad goes to bed. They think they put the box and some other stuff up in an old barn while they were cleaning the shop. I am headed there now let you know in a hour or so. Also I will get the part numbers off the adapter for you some time today. My 135 is out at my orchard which is about 30 minutes from the house. Dave.
