I just bought a Ferguson F40 utility style tractor. Its a 1957 with a serial number of 40690I. Anyone now what the "I" stands for?

Its in pretty nice shape but painted Red and gray. It was clean and ran well. Paid $3000 for it, couldn't get them to come down any more then that so I gave in. Always wanted one. Any other F40 owners out there?

How hard would it be to find an engine block for an F40?

I'm looking at one now w/ a hole in the block.

I wouldn't think it would be too hard. That engine was used in the MF50 and MF35 for a good stretch of years.

The engine for a F40 is the Z134 Continential. They are a common engine for a number of fergusons. They were put in the 35 as well as the MH 50

My dad has one and so do I. I bought mine becuase I always wanted one of my own. The only letters for the serial number should be ahead of the numbers.

I think they are nice tractors. I passed up bidding on a nice MF 65 this weekend that sold for $1,350, and am still mad at myself. Congratulations on your new tractor!
