I recently changed the fuel filter after losing power. After the filter change I developed a loud knock at the front of the engine. Could this be a rod, injector problem, or valve problem?

Does it do it when it is hot? Sounds like a piston collapsed from overheating. Although rare, it could be "fuel knock" from a injector or something. If the engine was running lean because of a lack of fuel under a load, it possibly burned a piston. Does it have a lot of blowby from the breather? If it does, consider a overhaul. Most generally, if the filter is clogged, it will just be short on power or not even run. In which case the fuel tank should be looked at for crap in it. Might want to check valve adjustment also.
