Weld just a little bump on each of the teeth of the steel piece that the fuel handle rides on. The teeth are likely just worn down some from years of use.

I have a MF165 w/ Perkins Diesel, I used a spring from the throttle linkage to the side panel and it works great, may not be the right way to fix it but it worked for my 165. There are 2 bolts at the bottom of the throttle linkage that is you tighten up that is suppoesed to tighten up the throllte arm.

I had the same problem. the throttle shaft has two splines that are suppose to fit tight in a washer in fits through It can be fixed by taking the throttle mechanism apart where the large washer is pinched between the cork disks. On mine the pressed in splines on the throttle rod were wore and allowed the shaft to move to much. I tacked a welded on the splines and slowly filed them down until they re fit the slots in the washer. It now works like new.

Hope that helps.
