Hey All. I've got a bit of a problem. Someone wants to trade me what he has described as a MH44 in fair shape (engine leaks oil badly from the head, plates welded to frame to make pushing ram, etc.) for my 1961 lincoln continental parts car. I believe the tractor to be a MH22 because I already have a 44 and it is much larger than the aforementioned tractor. He has also stated that it has a 4 cyl. Continental engine in it. I
know these came on the 22 but did they come in any other MH tractors? How much do you think this tractor is worth in the shape it's in? I apologize for not having serial no.s, but all of the appropriate places for nos. were either worn off or missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The overhead valve engines used in 44's and 33's and the triples were all made by coninental.

Just about all the Mh's were 4 cylinder except for the 101, 101 & 102 Senior, and 44-6. The ser.# is stamped on the top or the transmission case. You may need to do some scraping .. Post the number and someone will tell you the model and year..

Thanks Dave, I'll look on the transmission. I knew a lot of them came with a four cylinder, I was wondering how many came with the Continental four cylinder. I have a 44 standard and it doesn't have the Continental engine. Thanks again for the heads up on the ser. no. location.

Their were many early Massey Harris that had a flat head 4 cylinder engine. The 22 has a 140 cubic inch and the mustang used the same engine as well. Check out the link below for more info on Massey Harris. They have a lot of info on most of the different model Masseys that might help with identifying the tractor.

MH 44s had Continental H260 overhead valve engines. A 22 would have a flat head engine and stamped steel frame instead of the cast iron bath tub.

I think on the 44s they had a pad on the block with the engine size. I believe its on the carb side of block below the deck surface at the rear. The MH-20 used a 120 and the MH-22 used a 140 engine.
