what is a HD277 diesel without the injector pump worth.it does have the starter.turns over but i haven't started it yet.

Partial factor on value would be why someone took
just the pump. Did they know something about the
past running condition that you don't? You got
involved with those 85's, about..last year? If this is an 85 pulled engine, different pan,etc,
than the 444D. Unless you already have a pump to
attach, this would be an expensive test to hear
a knocking rod, or smoker. Some rare parts inside these 277's. Facing a rebuild would be
regretful, in an 85, less painful in a 444.
If the engine has not been left out, on the ground two years, appears intact, no cracked head, or block, try the hundreds: one, if rough,
six, if "appears" to run ok. You don't know how
well it performs in two hours. A gamble when out
of the rolling tractor.
