I found a 165 Massey for sale that had been taken apart to repair a broken crank. The owner passed away before he was able to fix it. It appears that the block is ok, but can you tell by just looking? The big parts of the tractor have been sitting outside for a couple years, so there is some rust. The block and small parts are under cover, but there may be some pieces missing since it was moved to another location when the farm was sold. The front wheels and three point arms are not there! So, does this 165 have any value as an operating tractor or should it be parted out? Just looking for some cost estimates or value. Thanks!

If you do not buy this tractor, I would be very interested if the location was convenient and the price was realistic.

If I don't take the tractor I'll let you know.

It is worth a good bit for parts. Unfortunatly i have bought tractors in similar conditions and repaired them before. Almost always you end up with more money in the tractor than it is worth, and that is counting labor. For a fun project, go for it, but if you need a good tractor, it will probably be better to just buy a good one.

Either way it would have some value. You might want to consider taking the block into a machine shop to have it magnafluxed for cracks. A good block should be worth something.
