HI, I asked about oil pressure the other day. I have a MF50 with a Z-134 gas engine I rebuilt. It was started then sat for several years. Anyway I started it up a few days ago and the oil pressure was at 40 and the engine temp was at the low end of the operating range, but not low. It had been running about 4 minutes. I couldn't get the idle down it was running at about 1800rpm on the tractor gauge. I shut it down and as the engine quit I heard a shrill screech like you hear when a lawn mower engine seizes. I checked the oil. it was ok but it was barely warm to the touch. I have bumped the engine over a couple times and it turns over fine. I am concerned about the noise but more concerned about the oil being just warm when the engine is at operating temp. Do ya'll think the oil pump is not working. or is this normal.

After only four minutes of running it would be nornal for your oil to still be only warm. It takes longer for your oil to heat up then it does for your coolant. So I wouldnt worry about that part of your post.

Fan belt loose? If it was carrying 40# it should be fine, there are alot of them still running good with 18-20#.

The shrill is not normal, engine at temp and oil just warm?...I believe I would atleast invest in an oil pan gasket, pull the pan and remove the pump and check it. could be the pump sat dry and when you started it up the relief valve stuck and as a result had temparary air lock, Its cheaper to pull the pan and check everything now than hoping it will go away.....I'd look at a bearing or two while I had the pan off....oil pump checking and adjusting is in the manual. dont forget to fix your idle problem too...
10 dollar gasket a couple of hours labor, then you will know...

best wishes

Did you pack the oil pump with white lube or prime it with oil before you started the engine? If not, chances are it never actually pumped oil. I'd definitely look at the bearings. No sense losing a crankshaft.
