Did a compression check on the Pony today. Numbers are: #1- 88psi #2- 88psi #3- 70psi #4- 86psi. Manual says should be 90-100. These were dry test, only did wet test on #3, and it went to 88psi. Thing is, she runs smooth, starts easy, and doesn't burn any oil. Should I rebuild anyway? How bad are these numbers? Opinions will be sincerely appreciated..... Stan

I've owned probably 15 ponies or allis G, all w/ same motors in them. Unless you got money to burn, you are wasting your time thinkin about rebuildin it.

Dear Stan:

If your pressures are running in the high 80's then my mechanics suggest to leave her be. Even the one hole in the 70's isn't all that bad. They suggest looking for other causes of low compression. IE spark plugs, distributor, points..etc. Oil pressure is fine. If she isn't blowin smoke or rough then just a lil age.

By the way...oil pressure is about 10-15 at idle, and about 22 normal operation..... .Stan
