Sold my gas 135 and am looking at the following 2 tractors: 1980 MF 230 w/600 hrs and a 1994 MF with 700 hrs. Both are basically equiped the same and the price is the same. Both were kept out so the 230 paint is a little more rough.The 231 may be buffed out and be presentable for a few more years. Any good (free) advice out thereregarding these 2 models ( ps, I have a 261 and love it).

Mr. Case,

I have a 1998 231 that I am pleased with. It is a no frills dependable tractor. The pedals took some getting used to but I got over that quick. The big problem with this tractor is the hydraulic pump is not big enough to run a loader. You can put an auxilary pump on it but it is expensive and if you're planning to get a loader for it you should buy a different tractor that has a big enough pump. Other than that it is a lot of bang for the buck that should make a good second tractor.
