The clutch was working fine. I parked the tractor. A week later I started it and I had no clutch. I can't put it in gear without grinding the gears and the 3-point hydrolic on the back also quit working at the same time. The gear case below the gear shift lever was low on oil. I added about 2 quarts of 90 weight gear grease and it did not help. Any advice on what the problem could be caused by? I greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to find a original picture of a Massey Furguson 1950. My husband has a old rusty one and he is tryin to fix it up, and I can not find a good picture to give him a look at one.

Thank you

Dick,

both ? and Ray,IN may both be right. You do not want to use 90 wt. gear oil. It deffently should not be grease. As Ray, says you want 90 wt straight mineral oil meeting GL1 standards.

Yes you do use 80/90WT STRAIGHT mineral oil in the trans/hyd/diff area of all Harry Ferguson tractors tractor. Your description seems to identify a stuck clutch, but the lack of hyds does not accompany a stuck clutch. Could the clutch assembly have broken or came apart? You could remove the inspection cover and try to determine if mechanical failure is the problem. If the clutch is merely rusted onto the flywheel you can try pull starting the tractor then easing it up against a large tree with the clutch pedal depressed and attempt to break the clutch free; or, have another person hold the pedal down while you gently pry the clutch disc and flywheel free. This is my opinion of a stuck clutch problem and has worked for me in the past, do so at your own risk.
