Good afternnon all,

I have a MF 35X with the Perkins diesel that is smoking from places it shouldn't. Once the engine is warm, a fair amount of gray-white smoke is flowing out between the head and the block. You can also at time see a slight amount of fluid bubbling. In addition, pretty much from start-up, there is white smoke flowing fast out of the breather tube. Before I dig in and do things I shouldn't, I was hoping for some help with diagnosis. I ordered a set of gaskets already thinking it would need some for sure, as the engine in general gets quite moist (though part of me wonders if this is diesel).

I appreciate any help you could offer.

Tony, chip is right on track. the head gasket could also be blown between fire/ring of head gasket which seals compression in cylinder, and leaking out internally to say your cam follower gallery and pressurising sump giving your engine excess blowby. this could be what you are seeing coming out of your breather tube. try compression test first as Chip has recommended and go from there. regards, sibby.

Well, that don't sound too good, does it. If you pull your radiator cap, are there foamy bubbles in the coolant, or coolant gushing out ofthe radiator? How about coolant in the crankcase oil? Is the smoke coming from between the head and block on the exhaust manifold side, or injector pump side?
How's your cylinder compression? Could be head gasket...or a million other things. Start with a compression test.
