Just found out what the tractor was that I bought last week. It is a Massey Harris 33 Diesel, with a tricycle front end. The big question I still face is what brand of engine is there. If ya'll can give me alittle info about the tractor, the pros & cons, it will be greatly Apreciative.

Draining the tank and adding fresh fuel is a good start but don't try to start it until you change all 3 fuel filters and sediment bowl under tank or you might get junk in the injection pump and that would be bad.

The one I used to have, had an ED-201 Continental engine- 4 cylinder diesel- Bosch pump. Only thing that ever grieved me was the starter. At the time, it was hard to get parts for and awfully expensive to fix . Ended up buying a 44 diesel just for the starter. If I had only known then how rare they were.....

The 33 Diesel had a 201 Continental engine with a Bosch single plunger injection pump. There were only about 500 33 diesels made, at least that is what I've been told. Darn good tractors, can really beat them into the ground.

Just got the tractor in the shop & got the hood off. Looks easy compared to what I've seen on todays tractors. Well, the thing is, it hasn't started in 7-9 years so the first thing I did was drain the fuel tank & dump 4 gallons of fresh fuel in. I need a good battery to turn in over, but that will be a Monday project. Couple thrings I've noticed is the it has 3-point & a remote hydualics system that has been added on. Another thing tha I really anin't sure about is the lever that stands 2-3 foot tall to the right of the brakes, now I think it is a devise that holds the brake on, like a parking brake. The PTO is another thing that I anin't all that sure how to engage, the lever I believe is next to the gear shifter, however, it is stuck. Any ideas on how to get it free? I will report in after Mondays progess. Thanks for any help!!!

Hi and welcome fellow 33 owner! the big lever to the right of the brakes is a live pto lever, the lever to left of the gear shift is the pto and belt pulley engaugement lever, pull it back that will turn on the pto, the big lever to the right of the brakes will stop forward movement of the tractor while the pto remains working. The live pto lever is nothing more than a clutch that is connected into the differental and stops power flow to the bull gears. works really well and alot of these little workhorses were bought new just for that feature, its great for bailing hay, bushoging and loader operation. If you need any more help go ahead and e-mail me, Morgan
