Hi folks,
I've been looking at a 1961 35. He's asking 3000. or best offer and comes with a box blade. It needs paint and eventually tires. It has a small leak at the power steering and an ever so slight leak at the PTO. It seems to run fine, no smoke, starts right up and shifts good. He has a BIG tiller on the back that he wants 400.00 extra for. He ran a strip with the tiller and I was very impressed. He said it runs the tiller fine, but it works the tractor pretty hard. He's had it about 4 years and says he hasn't had any problems with it; just bought a Deere and hasn't used the Fergy in about 1 1/2 years. So, what do you think?
I have a TO30 that blew the engine about 2 years ago... the machinist counted over twenty cracks and I can't justify in my mind to fork out the 2000 to get a rebuilt motor.. (It's a Z129)
Thank everyone in advance.

Chuck (CA)

P.S., I'm going to also post this in the Ferguson board.

chuck, is it diesel or gas. if its diesel the 3 cyl was a more better engine, easier starting, more power, cheaper and easier to get parts for. if its a 4 cyl diesel, was the engine hot(just been warmed up before you seen it, did he expect you to come and look at it at a certain time?) they are very costly to fix and can be very cranky starters. did you check oil , water levels and colour?brakes o.k.? tyres arent cheap, so keep that in mind, anyways good luck and cheers!!!

Greetings Sibby,
It's a Z134 Continental gas.
No, I was just driving by and saw the sign, and the engine was cold when I knocked on the door. Oil looked good, didn't check the water. After he ran the tiller, I checked the oil pressure and it was just left of mid-normal at idle. Looked pretty good in my mind. Thanks for the quick response!

With the tiller on the back and the engine off, the hydraulics stays up just fine; but with the engine running, it stays up with the clutch out, but with the clutch in, it comes down.

Chuck You want a dual clutch or 35 Deluxe model. If the implement on the 3-point lowers by gravity with the clutch pedal partially depressed it is a single clutch or 35 Special model. The dual clutch is what makes the 35 a great tractor (in my opinion)
