Just bought a MF 50 with a small FEL. FEL works somewhat, but not as good as I think it should. It is operated from an add on two lever, three spool (I believe) hydralic box in front of the seat. Problem is that under stress, the rear lift arms also come up when I am lifting the FEL. The FEL cylinders are one way only. Also, I cannot get a pressure reading on the pump as described in the I&T manual. Any suggestions?

Mark my son, welcome to the wonderful world of MF hydraulics & 3 pt hitch..If you have the operator's manual it outlines how to set the 3 pt hitch controls so that hydraulics are dedicated to auxiliary systems(front end loader for example) I have been fighting with this on my MF85. The auxiliary systems are slow as the hydraulic pump was sized for 3 pt lift and a single remote cylinder operation only. As the 2 digit series of MF was the first effort by combined design staff of Massey Harris and Ferguson companies they were more interested in establishing fiefdoms then building something for customers. Gosh, never thought someone would put a front-end loader on our tractors, when were front end loaders invented!!!

Thanks parky for the sympathy. Are there any after market pumps available to increase the output, as it appears that I am going to have to dig into the existing pump. Any wise thoughts on rebuilding the hydralic pump before I dig in? Also, any words of wisdom on the type of valve box that might improve the operation of the FEL?
