hello, i have pulled head off massey harris 55 diesel, so far i see oil waaay above the oil lever since i filled up, probably anti-freeze leaking, also was leaking anti-freeze between head and block where mainfold is. should i have that head ported and polished? will have it competely worked on.. i really want to know if this is a must, should i pull all 4 sleeves out and clean it up and put new O-rings seals on sleeves or not? do they usually let anti-freeze leak throught O-rings on sleeves?? or i should leave as it is, pistons, sleeves, everything looks real good to me, doesnt even show any signs worn out at all, but since i drained oil, it has anti-freeze in it.. i think its the head gaskets.. could that be more that just head gasket? any suggests or advices greatly appricate it!

I will bet the block has a crack between number one and two,and between three and four.I have never seen one that was not cracked here.So check carefully.

i have cleaned up with solvent, on top of the sleeves and under inside the block , so far no cracks at all.. its head gasket, just did it today.. things looks real good, i was suprised how big those pistons are.. really want to know if need to pull those sleeves out to replace O-rings? that engine looks real good to me so far. anti-freeze is still sitting around the sleeves, no leak at all..

you are lucky as to the cracks, even my 44 blocks were cracked. You have to pull the cylinder liner to install new "o"rings.check your counter bore depths to make sure you have enough liner height,I think the spec is .002-.004 inch.

It is not difficult, but I work in this line of work so I may not be a good judge of that. You may have to borrow a liner puller from a engine shop.I made one from a piece of three quarter coarse thread ready rod two nuts a piece of tubing big enough to allow the sleeve to pull up into it.The liner only pulls hard till it clears the "o" rings. If you can measure liner height and you are confident it was only the gasket you can take a chance and reassemble as is,the head gasket is quite expensive,so give it some thought.

i have already brought competely gaskets for about less than $100 bucks.. it was a very good reasonable price for that impossible to find... i have found that source of leaking.. it was those o-rings... i cleaned all up inside the block and filled up with anti-freeze and saw 2 clyinders are letting it leaking so it has to be pulled out and do all those work.. i think i can make puller for sleeves..just dont know how hard it takes to pull it out? just hope it would slide right out so i can clean it up and put it back in and stop those leaks..
