william, i have been trying to contact you on s.s.b. site but cannot post or follow up on that site . i converted a perkins 3.152. from a 40 loader backhoe to a 4. cyl. standard diesel f.e.35. ~20 years ago. had to fit a 3. cyl 35 front end to bolt onto front of engine, as the 3 and 4 cyl engines have a different bolt pattern where front end bolts on. bonnet wouldnt fit down properly, from memory we fitted a new non genuine tacho, i think it was driven in opposite direction.starting improved out of this world, power increase was almost doubled, fuel consumption almost doubled when worked hard. i hope this helps you and feel free to ask any questions and i will try to help if i can. regards and cheers. sibby.

HI,

Thanks for the info. We may have a source for the fron axle mount, and as for a thc, well we can work with that!! Did the bonnet still fit? How far did it close? What did you do?

Thanks

Will

g/day, from memory we fitted a 3 cyl bonnet.it was fouling on the top of radiator or maybe top of fuel tank. would only shut just over 3/4 way down. i think with a bit of time and patience you could relocate the two bottom locating holes in bonnet or perhaps make up a spacer bracket between bottom holes and mounting holes in bottom of bonnet, is this confusing? ,try and space up front of bonnet so it clears. might be better looking when ready to fit, will. regards, sibby.

Hi Sibby,

Did you have to buy another fuel tank? And how about the radiator? We have found a front axle casting, so no worries there!! Where abouts down under are you? I am 45 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario Canada!!

Thanks

Will

will, i am sure we fitted the original 4 cyl fuel tank, not 100% sure on radiator, but fairly certain 4 cyl. maybe 3 cyl front housing slightly higher, but not sure, where radiator mounts. i feel these are minor things you could rectify once engine is fitted. i live in ingham, north queensland, on the banks of the herbert river, ~ one and a quarter hrs north of townsville, and two and a half hours south of cairns. plenty of good fishing to be had here. bye for now, regard, sibby.

Hi Sibby,

Another question for you. I have found a 3.152, an indirect injected older model that is apart and needs a rebuild. It does not have an injector pump. I am still searching for a used or reman one, and was wondering if a direct injected one of a 135 will work on an indirect injected engine?

Thanks

Will

Will, why not look for one that suits it? i am not sure if they will interchange, do you know any fuel pump reconditioners, they should be able to help? the engine we fitted was direct injected and cyl head, injectors, pistons were different, but not certain about fuel pump. . we later fitted an M.F. 65 gearbox to it, run in the engine and bumped revs up to 2600 r.p.m.s ,that little thing would cruise at 35 M.P.H.good luck.
