At the bottom of the trans housing where it and the motor meet there is a cover plate. I have some milky oil leaking out. What do you think it is? Hyd. oil?

Yes, the trans/hyd oil is milky. The engine oil is fine. I will change it the hyd oil. What causes it to get milky? Thanks

g cole,

You got some water in the trans-Hyrdolic fluid. New shift lever boots are available at MF and TSC. Also a 5 gallon bucket placed over the lever when storing will help.

Note you should wash out the fluid before refilling, else you will contaminate the new stuff also.

Do a search on flushing the transmission. If nothing here I know it has been discussed on the N board and the H. Ferg. board.

Jeff

is your trans/hydraulic oil milky, if so it would be in your best interests to change it. on the other hand is your engine oil milky, if so i think you have a head gasketor cracked head or some other internal engine problem, leaking engine oil into clutch housing via rear main seal or sump gasket. regards, good luck!!!

water , has it been left out in weather? your trans gear stick covers probably need changing, they should still be available. if you cant get them ,a simple temporary fix is to make them out of tennis balls, but i would change the oil as it is no good to leave it in. cheers!!!
