I have been fightin a hydraulic problem for a while now on this tractor, so I finally broke down and bought the repair manual from this sight, an owners manual an a parts manual. They give all kinds of useful info, but looking in the owners manual to find out where to find the serial number for this tractor, and on mine no numbers exist over the starter wher they show it. This is the same for the transmission and rear axle assembly also. N one of the numbers that I can see on these parts are even listed as options for serial numbers. I know that this tractor has the AD4 203 Engine, I can find that. To make this worse when I checked the parts manual to see if any of these numbers I found stamped on the tractor were maybe part numbers I found several of them but they were one number lower than the numbers listed in the parts manual. For instance on the engine head ther is a data plate saying that this is an AD4 203 engine and right below that it gives a part number of 37786240 and when checking the parts manual the only part number for this was 37786241. This same thing held true for the top plate of the pump cover, rear axles and the transmission housing, all one number lower than any listed in the manual. I know that this tractor originaly came from Canada if that makes a differance.
Sorry for being so long winded but I need help. Im tired of this thing sittin idle. At this point I just want to replace the hydro filter and at least make this thing mobile again.

Hmmm....thought I had posted this yesterday, but it is not here. Does your tractor have headlights in the grille by anychance? You might have a Banner Lane built one instead of one from Detroit. Check with pudding about it. www.puddingsworld.com

It doesnt have the front headlights. It has a Detroit made SN on it, however all of this did lead to more confusion if you look at my new post farther up on this board. I can't get the Massey link in puddins world to work yet to check it out.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to ya Jeff. I had gotten a few replies from this post for several different locations to check, but yours payed off. I had to dig through several layers of paint. As a matter of fact so much paint that I had to feel for it just to find that there was a plate under there, you couldn't even see the ridges of it. I don't know yet if this will answer all my questions but it's a good start.
