Finally got the hydraulics to work on my tractor,at least without any weight on it. I have the arms where they will adjust up and down just like they should. Now when I hook up my blade it will only lift it about 6". I bought this tractor already broken so I am sorting out what is wrong before I spend lots of $ on it. First thing is the top plate is cracked in half and one bolt is sheared off from the cylinder that drives the top link on three point, which is mounted under the seat. I have found a new top plate and I can have the stud removed and replaced on the hydraulic cylinder, but I would like to know what my problem is before I fix these. The top plate is expensive! Could the hydraulics be ok and the top link may be binding to cause it not to lift ? It seems to lift up fine without the top link hooked to the blade. Thanks for your help

I think the 35 has the same center linkage design as the 135. (The MF 150, 165, & 175 use the same design) Pull the pin on the center link on the 3point where it attaches to the tractor. You will find another pin at the top of that clevis assembly (the parts book calls it a beam assembly, control). Pull that pin and let that beam assembly swing down. Behind that beam assembly, you will find a rubber boot(if it isn't rotted away) behind the head assembly that the pin was through. Pull that rubber boot back and you will find a notched, threaded ring that screws into the hydraulic lift cover. Use a punch and screw that ring in a couple of turns. Put everything back together and see if that helps. That ring compresses the control spring for the three point. If there is insufficient spring tension, the three point won't raise a load when the center link is attached. You could have other things wrong, but I would start there. If you put large overhanging loads on the three point, you may have to increase the tension even more.

rich, are you trying to lift a weight with the old cracked lift cover , or have you fitted the replacement part? your message sounds like you havnt fitted the new one yet. your old one is probably leaking oil internally when you try to lift a load on it, especially if you have a broken securing stud on your internal hyd lift ram, the pressure would shoot out the side of the ram because it wont seat flush against oring between ram and cover, maybe the ram is split and releasing oil pressure at certain point. to access this you must first remove the lift cover and inspect, otherwise you are only taking a stab in the dark. regards, sibby.

Are both your lift control and draft control at the fully up position?

I have not replaced the lift cover yet or fixed the broken stud on the hydraulic ram. I am going to, would just like to know that this is really the problem. The only place I found a top cover had a very high price! I am not going to buy it unless I am sure this is the problem. The tractor worked fine for a long time with a broken top cover, before it broke one of the mounting bolts. I believe that if I fix the stud and cover that it will work, seems to have good pressure in the hydraulic system. Thanks for your help
