MF35 starter problem

I trailered my MF35 in HEAVY rain for 5 hours yesterday, and it sat out last night in more rain.

Tried to start it this morning - nothing. Thought the safety switch was the culprit, but not so. I took the band from off the front of the starter and sprayed WD-40 in there thinking the rain had gotten in. Got a couple of 'clicks' after that when I tried starting it but that was all. I tried jump starting it with my truck, and the engine (Perkins Diesel) turned over VERY slowly, the jumper cables got very hot, and the engine finally starter, and ran normal.

I had the battery checked and it's fine, what the heck has happened??? Thanks in advance for any help!

Turns out the battery went belly up after all. That made it a whole lot easier! Thanks.

Did you clean the terminals. Ive had terminals that appear to be clean act similar. Then i clean them with a wire bristle terminal cleaner and reattach them and even though they dont look any different they suddenly work. Just a thought, sometimes its the simplest thing.

I'll give it a try. Gonna have the battery tested as well. Thanks for the reply.
