I have a TO 35 that I cannot start. When I do get it started it runs hard for about 20 seconds and shuts off and will not run after that. All the fuel goes into the oil tank. Can you tell me what is wrong? Thanks

mae,by oil tank do you mean oil pan or sump on engine? sounds like you have a perished fuel pump diaphragm which you can replace or replace the pump which can sometimes work out cheaper if you dont feel confident in re/conning the unit and have someone else do it.there is a right way and wrong way to refit the pump as you can break the accuating arm if fitted incorrectly.your carby may need a good cleanout and kit fitted also.dont forget to change engine oil when its finished.cheers.

mae, do you have an up draft or downdraft carby? aussie models have updraft on theirs, if you have a downdraft i would go for the needle and seat in carby first, if not fuel pump first. good luck!
